America, America by Alexis T.

Creeping towards 2000 and I'M still alive,
Happy happy world has taken its dive.
Simplistic personalities running the show,
Oprah, Ricki, I really don't know.
OJ, OJ high upon his wall,
Two down, somehow he took his fall.
Radiation, city nations living in the dark,
Bet they'd blow if I lit a spark.
Makeshift models of a perfect nation,
Bills sitting pretty on a long vacation.
Psychedelic babies, kids with rabies,
The juice is loose to dance with the ladies.
Camouflaged children with broken hearts,
Trying to put together the broken parts.
Clarence Thomas, Nostradamus, LA riots,
Date rape, Watergate, Oprah & her diets.
Black & white supremacy, equal rights for you & me
If we all went blind would it be the remedy?
Life from a peeping Tom through the glass,
Family in harmony at the Sunday mass.
Crime waves on the rise,
Blindfolds on our eyes,
Earplugs blocking the trees sad cries.
Procrastinating presidents of the class,
Loopholes, flagpoles at half mast.
Abundant guns hit home runs down the streets,
Gregarious greenhouse affecting heat.
Mediation, liberation for womens fairness,
If this wasn't America I couldn't care less.
Janis Joplin, frogs and bunnys hopping,
Into the death of tabs I'm dropping.
Rhyme nor reason nor sadistic treasons,
No affect on the changing seasons.
California oranges, Florida grapefruit,
Girls on trial charged with a rape suit.
Clever tactic terrorists, tune in at five,
Rescue Oklahoma if they're still alive.
Mutilated mothers, devastated fathers,
Take 2 weeks to check for any others.
Screaming hearts with children lost,
Get them back at any cost.
America the beautiful, America the brave,
Only 275 million souls to save.
